Long Stitch Art Work Long stitch is thread work art which involves combining stitches in a variety of lengths. All the stitches in this art work are straight and vertical. Long stitch offers a quicker way to cover an area of fabric. This is done in Aida cloth or any even weave fabric. Aida cloth is an open, even-weave fabric. This cotton fabric has a natural mesh that facilitates cross-stitching and other count and stitch art works, it has enough natural stiffness. These are described by the count. For example, a 10-count Aida cloth would have 10 squares per linear inch. Typical sizes are 7, 10, 11, 12, 14, 16, 18, 22, and 28 count, ranked from the coarsest to the finest count. I use 14 count Aida cloth for my artworks. Thread used for this artwork is embroidery floss from DMC or Anchor.
